i don’t know what you are talking about “water baptism”.
i use the biblical term “baptism” and yes, Peter tells us clearly it does save us.
there is a reason the Church has taught this for 2,000 years, we received it from Peter, Paul, John, et al.
One would think.
Don't quit your day job. I think the Roman Catholic Church doesn't need someone who "wings" it. Have you forgotten about the terms "Baptism of Desire" or "Baptism of Blood", terms the Catholic Church created? Apparently, the "church" in this case disagrees that there is "only one baptism".
when Ananias baptized Paul in Acts 22:16, he was the Church.
the Church received this command from Jesus in Matthew 28.
in Acts 8, Philip was the Church.
I don't believe you.
i use the biblical term baptism and yes, Peter tells us clearly it does save us.
Not buying either of those either.
there is a reason the Church has taught this for 2,000 years, we received it from Peter, Paul, John, et al.
And pray tell, what is the reason?
see post #101
So Philip and the eunech went swimming and the water had nothing to do with the baptism?
THE CHURCH.
doesn’t when or at what age.
baptism is baptism.
There is only Heaven for Grace Believer and Hell for cults, and un-believers - God makes is abundantly clear that there is only Heaven and Hell - no such thing as Purgatory - those which are 'placed in purgatory', remain in purgatory forever. The concept of Purgatory was defined by the cult of the ancient Babylonian religion of Nimrod.
actually IT DOES NOT.
what version does it say “ what prevents me from being water baptized?”
But Acts 8 requires belief in Jesus Christ before baptism can be performed ... an infant does not meet these requirements ... thus the conclusion is obvious.
I Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Sheesh, talk about talking out of both sides of your mouth.
Baptism does and doesn’t save us all at the same time.

978 “When we made our first profession of faith while receiving the holy Baptism that cleansed us, the forgiveness we received then was so full and complete that there remained in us absolutely nothing left to efface, neither original sin nor offenses committed by our own will, nor was there left any penalty to suffer in order to expiate them.... Yet the grace of Baptism delivers no one from all the weakness of nature. On the contrary, we must still combat the movements of concupiscence that never cease leading us into evil “521

The Catholic church teaches that water baptism actually effects salvation.

1215 This sacrament is also called “the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit,” for it signifies and actually brings about the birth of water and the Spirit without which no one “can enter the kingdom of God.”7

1258 The Church has always held the firm conviction that those who suffer death for the sake of the faith without having received Baptism are baptized by their death for and with Christ. This Baptism of blood, like the desire for Baptism, brings about the fruits of Baptism without being a sacrament.
1259 For catechumens who die before their Baptism, their explicit desire to receive it, together with repentance for their sins, and charity, assures them the salvation that they were not able to receive through the sacrament.
1260 “Since Christ died for all, and since all men are in fact called to one and the same destiny, which is divine, we must hold that the Holy Spirit offers to all the possibility of being made partakers, in a way known to God, of the Paschal mystery.”62 Every man who is ignorant of the Gospel of Christ and of his Church, but seeks the truth and does the will of God in accordance with his understanding of it, can be saved. It may be supposed that such persons would have desired Baptism explicitly if they had known its necessity.
1261 As regards children who have died without Baptism, the Church can only entrust them to the mercy of God, as she does in her funeral rites for them. Indeed, the great mercy of God who desires that all men should be saved, and Jesus’ tenderness toward children which caused him to say: “Let the children come to me, do not hinder them,”63 allow us to hope that there is a way of salvation for children who have died without Baptism. All the more urgent is the Church’s call not to prevent little children coming to Christ through the gift of holy Baptism.
FAIL
anyone who knows the Scriptures, knows the NT does not mention “water baptism” and “spirit baptism”
The Bible, the Apostles and the Church speak of “baptism”
HONESTLY!
If baptism saves, then Jesus didn’t need to die. We could all just get dunked or sprinkled and that’s be all that was needed.
You'd be forgiven for thinking this thread is showing that not to be the case.I've never read Screwtape but I bet he's laughing now.
However, thanks for the post,a wonderfull reminder.Hossana to the Son of David! Thankyou Lord Jesus!
Grace and peace to us all who call upon His name.
I dont care what the RCC teaches if that is what you are pointing to.
no answer to those three questions?
Catholics fought the Arian heresy in the 4th century, when did Bible believing Christians fight the Catholic heresy of infant baptism when it was first introduced????
