LOL! i’m not asking for a full history, just to back up statements you made that have no foundation in history.
it must be embarrassing to hold doctrines on baptism and the Eucharist that were unknown to the Christian world for 16 centuries.
“it must be embarrassing to hold doctrines on baptism and the Eucharist that were unknown to the Christian world for 16 centuries.”
As long as they were known to the Apostles, I’m content. Paul referenced the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, as did Peter and as did Jesus. I’m sorry that the visible church rejected the Holy Spirit, and ignored His role.
Paul also called the blessed bread bread, and the wine, wine. As did Jesus Himself. Again, I’m sorry the visible church rejected the words of Jesus Christ.
But all that is found in the Word of God, rejected by Rome and hidden from commoners. And that is WHY Rome wanted the scriptures hidden - because the scriptures reveal the truth, and the truth conflicted with the Power of the Bishop of Rome.
“32And John bore witness: “I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. 33I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”
“26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” 27And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, 28for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Fathers kingdom.”
What did Jesus call it? “this fruit of the vine”
Guess Jesus was under stress, and forgot his theology for a moment...
It must be embarrassing to hold to doctrines that your church has been wrong on since the 4th century.
Imagine anyone sane thinking that God becomes a piece of bread!
Behold the wafer god!
