No, God the Holy Spirit works through our human spirit to sanctify our souls, just as He has for every believer in fellowship with Him who thinks His Word through faith in Christ.
If a doctrine arose within Church History which God leads others to reject, then it was a false doctrine.
It took the institutional church some 400 years to get the doctrine of the Trinity straight. That doesn’t mean there weren’t believers or members of the Body of Christ prior to that time. It does manifest His Body is provided by Him and not the works of men.
Jesus said false prophets will arise and lead many astray.
If someone rejects baptismal regeneration as the Bible teaches, they are a false prophet.
In the case of baptismal regeneration, it was 16 centuries before these false prophets arose to reject this doctrine.
sadly, some today still follow this 16th century tradition of men, rather than the Apostolic Faith.
sadder still, they think it is the Holy Spirit leading them.
