I can’t believe any of you have actually read the sheep and goats passage. It was the sheep who did the good works, not the goats, ns i was the sheep which were rewarded. The goats, who did NOTeed the hungry, clothe the naked, and visit the sick and imprisoned, were sent to hell.
I’m starting to think this may be a deliberate twisting of Christ’s words.I’m also starting to think there may be no widh for n\honest discourse.
Yes, it seems a very straightforward passage, very clear and consistent with Jesus’s ministry.
It takes quite a bit of work to avoid its meaning or application to ourselves.
Matthew 7:15-23 15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' 23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'
But it would appear that the goats thought they were doing good works doesnt it.
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Are you sure youre doing the good works that lead to the good and faithful servant or are you doing the good works that lead to I never knew you?
