Well, you postulated that i had a wrong motive a few days ago in response to my posts, but no, i had no idea, and i really doubt that is why many others use it here, and you are the first and only Roman Catholic (almost did it again) i have read who objected to this with this explanation.

Rather than it being used to insult, my only purpose it that saves redundant typing (my stiff fingers being one reason) and reading, as does “Prot,” which i use as well among other abbreviations for often used terms), for the same reason.

Due to certain differences (like with the present subject), it is often fitting to make a distinction btwn Catholic and Roman Catholic. I know papist or Romanist is seen as objectionable, and some even object to Roman Catholic (though it has officially been used). Latin Catholic has been suggested, but who would guess what LC means?

I do not want to use RC (i knew a kid named that once) if it really is crass, but i really do not think many Catholics even know the history you give of the term, and meanings change, but if you have a suggestion for an abbreviation you can propose it.
