Perhaps there’s no harm after all in letting them think that there’s a purgatory.
After all, when someone is burning in hell for eternity, it’d be nice for them to think that it’s really purgatory and that some day it will all be over.

Im thinking that by that time the realization will have sunk in and horror and despair will replace the hope.

It is kinda scary that their description of purgatory(for the most part) far more resembles hell than it does heaven...Sure glad I'm not going to either...
