Unless I misunderstand, you are using your interlocutors as unwitting actors in a dishonest act of communication.

You are not really communicating with them, you are using them as foils, pretending to discuss but actually playing to the lurkers — in order to “win some.”

I recently read another ‘conversion story’ from the book “Chosen.” In it, a young lady caught in the middle asked her Baptist pastor (didn’t say what kind) why he said thus and so about the Catholic Church when to every appearance this and that was the case.

He conceded that this and that was the case but it was so important to keep people away from Rome that dissembling was justified. Thus he provided a great impetus in the direction of ‘Rome’.

So now you laugh, “lol!” because you are serving Him who is the Truth of God by creating a false impression and preaching Him who was among us as one who served by manipulating others.

I don’t think that’s the sort of thing Jesus would want us to do.

>>by manipulating others<<

Manipulating others? Using the posts of those who follow wrong doctrine to point out error is manipulating others? Jesus used the words of the Pharasees often to point out error. We just do the same thing here.

What I AM saying is that posting to an individual does TWO things. It’s commenting on their post and it’s there for anyone who is interested to read. It’s not just TO that person, it’s FOR anyone who reads it. We all know each other pretty well by now. We pretty well know who has cast their lot where. It’s about those who aren’t certain. Who are searching. And who want to know what God’s Word says, what the RCC says, and if they are in agreement. It is hardly dishonest. It is comparing Scripture with teachings, and letting God’s Word and the Holy Spirit do with the reader what He will.
