Thank you my friend. It’s good to see you’re on the mend.
Mormons preach a Jesus who is half-brother of Satan. That is NOT the Jesus of the NT. They are preaching another gospel and another Jesus.
They can name what they worship Jesus, but it is not putting their faith in the right one, the God Incarnate who died for the sins of the world as presented in the NT.
You can't just make up any old Jesus you want and expect Him to save you.
So, NO. I will not ever assent to calling anyone who doesn't worship the Jesus of the NT a *Christian*.
Jeff, think about this:
I am a member of Christian Bowhunters. Utah being an outdoorsman State, with lots of bowhunters, archery leagues, hunters and sportmen - you’d think we’d have a strong chapter of Christian Bowhunters. There are three in the State - no not three chapters - there are three Christian Bowhunters. Why do you think that is?

That’s good.
Others DO, with and we agree that it is in error.
The question was regarding mormonism's demand to be called Christian. Mormon leaders and members denigrated Christians and Christianity for more than 150 years as an "abomination" and have now insisted they are Christian.
Why should Christians assent to that demand?
Mormons should take their demands and shove them.
I don’t respond well to demands.

When Romney does this we call it flip flopping. Brigham Young said Joseph Smith will judge whether we can see Christ. Who are you to question the teachings of the "Prophet" ?
Actually, that works hand-in-hand. It's because Romney is a Mormon leader in a spiritual line full of waffling social & theological flip-floppers that Romney is such a socio-political waffling flip-flopper!
I mean what if we had such a waffling "Evangelical" flip-flopper candidate on social issues?
(a) Evangelicals were over 1/3rd of ALL VOTERS who cast ballots in 2010!
(b) In this scenario, would Evangelicals turn around & vote for such a waffling flip-flopper on social issues by a margin of 94-6 % -- as Mormons did for Romney in '08 in the states of Utah & Nevada (& probably elsewhere)?
By all means, I 100% support the right of Mormon voters to take religion into consideration in their voting choices. (We do live in a Free Republic, after all)
But...
(a)...don't do this two-step, two-face maneuver -- and then scold others to "keep religion out of politics" -- when Mormon voters show the exact opposite!!!!!
and (b)...don't tell us that Mormons are so "conservative" politically. 'Cause when it came to the '08 choice, they bucked national trends of voters basing votes upon the issues, per the Feb '08 Salt Lake Trib, and based their vote upon "personal qualities" -- Mormon talk for "he's a fellow Mormon."
It showed the nation that Mormon voters put identity politics first. Not conservatism. Not conservative social issues.
Hence, no wonder BYU invited Harry Reid to an all-student, all-staff forum 5 years ago this month! And he was warmly rec'd there!
A CINO (Conservative in Name Only) wouldn't get 94% of the Evangelical vote -- unlike how Romney faired among Mormons.

Something like that. :)
But I think it is because Mormon bowmen don’t want to join the non-denominational Christian group.
And that says it all.....
Yep, I’m a Christian....I see from your posting history you are a mormonism defender.
...excellent point....do you guys have cooties? ;0)
I just think it's very telling in a comparison with Christian congregation hymnbooks there are so many unChrist/God hymns....and I can't find ANY praise hymns in my several hymnbooks lauding any mortal man.
Interesting posit cc, one that is spot on.
I know many mormons who will not listen to Christian radio, watch Christian programming on television or read Christian publications/books. Will not, under any circumstance, acknowledge the Cross.
They shop exclusively at mormon bookstores for religious related items/books, watch the BYU channel and subscribe to mormon only magazines.
If, as they claim, they are “Christian”, why the supposed aversion to anything Christian?
Hmmm....
Perhaps but first you'll notice that most bowhunters, Christian or otherwise, smell like elk urine. It might be helpful to mask your human smell but it is not popular at most social events.
When cleaning out some hunting supplies, I found a bottle of elk urine with a broken seal which must have been 10-12 years old. It hadn't been stored in refrigeration. Foolishly, I opened it.
I usually use the pine or cedar scent, personally.
But seriously, the closest I ever got when stalking big game was when I was nursing babies. I guess the smell of milk is a universal “safe” smell. Catch em off guard, then you go in for the kill!!!
Excellent encapsulation of what is really going on. Mormons don’t believe Christians are “Christians.” So their demand for Christians to view/call/accept Mormons as “Christians” is much more than it appears. It is both an insult and a forced affirmation at the same time. It is reminiscent of Islam, it’s disdain for other religions and its insidious means of promoting it’s superiority.
