Well, it was brought up because Justice Stephen Breyer wanted to know whether the whole "ministerial exemption" was going to be knocked down flat, which would give the EEOC control over all hiring in churches and church-related institutions, in the same way as it controls all other hiring policy and management decisions throughout our supposedly private economy.

So there's the big question of whether churches and their related institutions will be "allowed" to operate as anything other than subsidiaries of the State; and the bigger question of whether the State should control everyone, everywhere, in everything.

I think that about covers it.
