A Catholic priest from a small Mexican town has turned on his own congregation armed with a watergun which was loaded with holy water.
Father Juan Ramon Hernandez gives mass at a church in Acatlan. He became so saddened by the seemingly daily drug-related killings and violence he decided to take a stand... with a water gun.
"Let's pray to change the heart of the people who use violence and kill other people," he said. "Let's throw all the guns far away."
Some children, who were making their first communion, giggled as the priest sprayed churchgoers with holy water.
Violence has become common across Mexico since the crackdown on the drugs trade commenced. Eleven people were found dead in the popular beach resort of Acapulco. Five of them had been decapitated.
About 42,000 people have died in total since President Felipe Calderon went to war on the cartels after he took office towards the end of 2006.

For the record, the priest is wielding the Nerf Super Soaker Scatter Blast, available without a license right now at your local Wal-Mart.

Well, compared to threatening them with a baby rattle . . (ducking)
To be fair, it doesn’t say he did this during the Mass. Nevertheless, it isn’t amusing.
Extreme liturgical abuse, and it’s not the first time I’ve this being done. He needs to be quietly retired to monastery, as they did in the old days for wayward priests.
This just proves that life is not fair. We didn’t have those when I was a kid!
When water guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have water guns....
Typical liberal Catholic, pushing disarmament, rather than allowing law abiding people to defend themselves. The gun violence in Mexico is a direct result of their total ban on guns.
With mods it could also launch communion wafers..

Truth is Stranger than Fiction (and yes, the picture is in the original):
Lawsuit Over Communion Wafer Machine
(CN) A company that makes the "revolutionary Rapid Reload System" for dispensing "wine infused" communion wafers claims an employee swiped trade secrets and took them to a competitor in the communion host-dispensing market. Nu-Life Products wants Nu-Life Church Supplies to destroy or return all the offending items, including those based on its "Quad-Rotator Technology" which allows the dispensers to deliver 400 communion hosts without having to be refilled.
Nu-Life Products also sued its former employee, Douglas A. Henricksen, in Minneapolis Federal Court. It claims Henricksen violated a confidentiality and noncompete contract he signed. The defendants market their gizmo as the "Germ-Free Communion Host Delivery System."
Nu-Life wants the defendants enjoined from selling the disputed items and from contacting its clients, and destruction or delivery of the items. It is represented by Thomas Boyd with Winthrop & Weinstine.
"And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it. And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them." Mark 10:13-16
Don't talk to me - I haven't judged him or his methods. Direct your comments where they belong, i.e. towards fellow Catholics who claim he's guilty of "liturgical abuse".
Good for him! I think he made Jesus smile.

I agree with your original post, but it’s true the OP did NOT make any judgements. Other people here did.
What is so terrible? I go with “Natural Law” on this.
It’s a banalization of the liturgy. It’s clearly during Mass because the priest is wearing a chasuble. The liturgy is the highest form of worship due to God and he has cheapened it.
I stand by my assertion. Unless you are contending that the thread was created ex nihilio it has to be considered in the context of the OP's 3400 threads and 15,000 posts.
