I have heard this opinion many times. Is there a scriptural reason for this?
1 Thessalonians 5:4 (NIV) 4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.
How does this verse apply?
Like Avalon Hussar (posting elsewhere on this thread) said, "The true purpose of prophecy is to exhort the Body of Christ to holiness and submission to the Father, knowing that the Father executes judgment in righteousness against those who oppose His will.
As it is written:
Psa 46:10-11 KJV - [10] Be still, and know that I [am] God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. [11] The LORD of hosts [is] with us; the God of Jacob [is] our refuge. Selah."
