I am looking at this thread, and everything seems to be a projection of everything about the Mormonism being projected onto Glen Beck.

I am a Roman Catholic, but I would be really embarrassed if everyone assumed that every dogma, belief, etc.. could be projected on me.

Good or bad, I just don’t believe 100% of the dogma and tradition of the church, I just know too much of the church history and the politics surrounding it to buy into every traditional dogmatic item.

You toss words around as if you believe you can silence someone by your misusing a word to describe them. How sad, to show yourself in such a way. It is truly sad to not know the difference in loving correction and hating. I happen to be a friend of Glen Beck. I am not a Mormon and pray that he will someday have his eyes opened to see what the cult of Smith really is all about. But to dislike the cult doesn't translate to hating someone I have befriended who is trapped in the cult. When a cult gets ahold of someone, they establish such a strong grasp that it is a real work to get them aware of truth again. Truth is, Mormonism is a made up religion by a peepstone sexual predator of married women, who made up a religious book lifting liberally from various sources andcondemning Christians of his day as apostates. To break the hold of such deception requires strong opposition, not namby pamby go along to get along drek. Strong opposition, by exposing the blasphemies and heresies in Mormonism is not hate, not hate of the members caught up in the deceit.

hate [heyt] Show IPA verb, hat·ed, hat·ing, noun,

verb (used with object)
1. to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward; detest: to hate the enemy; to hate bigotry.
2. to be unwilling; dislike: I hate to do it.

verb (used without object)
3. to feel intense dislike, or extreme aversion or hostility.

noun
4. intense dislike; extreme aversion or hostility.
5. the object of extreme aversion or hostility.

Related forms
hat·er, noun
self-hate, noun
un·hat·ed, adjective
un·hat·ing, adjective
un·hat·ing·ly, adverb

Synonyms
1. loathe, execrate; despise. Hate, abhor, detest, abominate imply feeling intense dislike or aversion toward something. Hate, the simple and general word, suggests passionate dislike and a feeling of enmity: to hate autocracy. Abhor expresses a deep-rooted horror and a sense of repugnance or complete rejection: to abhor cruelty; Nature abhors a vacuum. Detest implies intense, even vehement, dislike and antipathy, besides a sense of disdain: to detest a combination of ignorance and arrogance. Abominate expresses a strong feeling of disgust and repulsion toward something thought of as unworthy, unlucky, or the like: to abominate treachery.

We have to go by the generally accepted definition of Christian and not on denomination’s definition.

There are thousands of these definitions.

Everything including the fact that a baptism doesn’t count unless you were 14 or older when it was done so you can consent.....etc..

Every single person on Free Republic wouldn’t meet the definition of Christian as postulated by one or more of the Denominations out there.

Even you aren’t a Christian in someone’s eyes.

The truth is, that this thread is projecting everything about Mormonism in someone’s mind onto a person, that person is Glen Beck

He hasn’t declared these things that you ascribe to him and therefore are baring false witness against him.

Like I said, ask him ... you set as judge jury and executioner, can you at least question the accused?

The only definition that I have to go by is the Word of God the Bible.

Beck ascribes mormonISM everyday and in everything he does. However, if you don’t know what mormonISM is you wont see it.

Then you are having a conversation without meaning.....

We either use common definitions or we are unable to communicate ... anything you say would be in doubt because we couldn’t possibly know what you mean by the words you say.

Sounds like Bill Clinton, What does is is mean?

Like I said, I wasn't interested in what some people say that Mormons believe. I asked a lot of Mormons the question..."Whence cometh your salvation?" and the answer, several times, lined up with "Belief in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as expiation for our sins."

mamzelle - your follow-on counters the above -

And then they decked that in a lot of nonsense, but the core remains.

I would indicate to you that two common things occured with the first quote -
1. First is the common mormon practice of 'milk before meat', that is to the unindoctrinated they will present as innoffensive sounding answer as possible. Were you to peel back the terms you would find that in their very own statement of faith THEY doctrinally claim that they are saved "AFTER ALL THEY CAN DO". Further, mormonism REDEFINES words and terminology commonly used in Christianity - such a even the term "salvation" which doesn't line up with that of Christianity. To a mormon it has a double meaning, the first is a universal resurrection of the body - to some level of 'heaven'. The second is the progression to godhood. Are these definitions what a Christian means when you ask you question 'Whence cometh your salvation?"

2. Also common is that the mormons you may have asked are poorly schooled in their doctrines or are relatively new converts. Just as there are ignorant Christians, there are mormons ignorant of their doctrines - which is understandable as what was taught as universal and everlasting doctrines are quickly tossed under the bus for more politically expedient 'revelations'. Cases in point being the doctrines of polygamy and racism against blacks.

You see - it is within the "nonsense" that the diversion from Christianity is hidden. You may poo-poo it, but it makes and eternal difference.

I ascribe Roman Catholicism everyday, but that doesn’t mean that 100% of everything in Roman Catholic Church Tradition / Dogma I buy into.

In fact, every Roman Catholic doesn’t agree with 100% of the Dogma and Tradition of the Roman Catholic Church. It is too huge and complex for anyone to even know it all. The Church doesn’t even reveal all the mysteries to the members but preserves these for the Priests and Bishops.

Ask him specifically on the topic you are accusing him on, you can’t project everything on him.

Ask him, what? are you afraid to hear him answer?

Instead of attacking the guy personally, maybe you should be trying to convert him to your church?

Jesus told us how to recognize Christians. He said that their fruits would show them. A bad tree cannot bear good fruit. I never cease to be impressed at the good works Mormons manage, despite all the error.

Jesus was talking about false prophets. And we know Joseph Smith was a false prophet.

I have no problem with the definition of what constitutes a Christian. Just read the guide BOOK. Might be fuzzy to you, but crystal clear to me and millions of born again Christians.

Christian = means belief in Christ — It is absolutely clear that Glen Beck believes in Christ

Utter nonsense. The demons believe in Jesus. They know who He is and tremble.

Placing your faith in Christ means more than believing in Him. It means giving your life to Him and accepting what He has said about himself: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me" and what He says about the Father: "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

God is not a man nor was he ever a man. This is heresy created by Joseph Smith who wanted to be a god.

The worst thing about Mormonism is the thing that incenses real Christians: Mormons take the truth of Christ, the Savior of the World, and twist it into an oppressing, self-serving cult that seeks to completely control the lives of its adherents, unlike faith in the REAL Christ who tells us that "you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free".

As Conservatives we should be able to understand that Mormonism is like Marxism. It seeks complete control of individuals, families and communities.

I will never vote for someone who has corrupted the perfect truth of Christ in order to oppress others. There is freedom in Christ. There is no freedom in the criminal, Joseph Smith.

The point is, faith is unproven by writings.

Your generalization is not correct in this case. Mormonism historically has claimed that the bom is a testiment of a HISTORICAL visit of Jesus to the Americas and that the bom is a history of Jewish people in the Americas. That 'history' is testible, and to date that 'history' has been categorically rejected by science in multiple categories - archaeology, linguistics, dna, and anthropology to name a few key ones. While not EVERY location or even listed in the bible has been documented by archaeology or other means - scientists in the above categories overwhelminly note that the bible has a substantial degree of accuracy, for example cities and cultures mentioned in the bible are also mentioned in writings of other cultures of the same time period as well as those cultures and cites have been found. How does the bom stand up to similar test? Not a single artifact (city, writing, anything) has been discovered in the americas as authentic evidence of a race of hebraic peoples in the americas during the bom era - PERIOD.

Now pause and think about this - if the bom claims that the history recorded therein is FACTUAL - yet the FACTS show it to be completely FICTION, then the validity of its SPIRITUAL and MORAL inspiration and source for faith are equally questionable - particularly when the parallel claim is that 'GOD' provided the translation to smith. When you study all the factors as I have, the conclusion is clear - the bom is a piece of fiction that is being passed off as the word of 'god'. Thus in this case, writings DO affect the validity of one's faith, particularly when that "faith" is based upon a lie.

Have a good life.

Perfect definition. Now you have proven that mormonISM is not Christian. They do not perform Christian baptism and they don’t believe in the Biblical Jesus.
