Of course not, but I have dealt with Mormons before and when they said something like this, I just ignored them and turned the other cheek.

There is no point confronting the person. What would you gain? He isn’t going to accept your authority, in fact a Mormon would immediately tell you that they have greater authority because their prophets are alive.

When I was little, they converted many Mormons on a regular basis because it is a pretty shallow religion. They didn’t do it by fighting with them, they did it by turning the cheek and showing love.

Mormonism and Catholicism are worlds apart. One is an evil cult the other a Christian church. I don’t get why so many Catholics defend Mormons though.

I’ve been Mormon and grew up in a Catholic school as well as study Catholicism professionally.

Mormons MUST believe what their leaders tell them (100% of the teachings) or they are excommunicated or disfellowshipped and shunned. Catholics aren’t that way at all. There is much room for ‘lay theology’ in Catholicsm, there is none in Mormonism.

You don’t convert someone with hate and personal attacks.

- - - -
Telling someone the truth about their religion isn’t ‘hate’ or personal attacks, although every Mormon I know takes it that way if you even slightly disagree with them or hint that they might not be Christians.

FWIW, these kinds of ‘attacks’ and exposes of Mormonism is EXACTLY what got me and many other Ex-Mormons I know out of Mormonism and into the arms of the Biblical Jesus.

Don’t knock it unless you’ve been on both sides. The first part of getting someone out of Mormonism is getting them mad enough to try to prove you wrong. Then they can start to think for themselves.

We aren’t defending Mormonism, we are defending the persons.

To just condemn them is to accept their fate. Who cares about them, they are doomed, lets just ignore them attitude doesn’t seem write.

Some Catholics don’t want to reach out to bring these people in, they do make some of the same judgments of the people as well.

Washing of the Feet on Holy Thursday
http://www.catholic.org/featured/headline.php?ID=3155
A lot of the Roman Catholic Tradition became self centric while many of the other branches of the Church continued other similar traditions.

We can recall how Jesus washed the feet of the Sinners and people who didn’t believe.

Because of some of the things that happened in the early Church, it became the official state religion of the Roman Empire. So when I look at tradition, I have to be mindful of the affect of a State Religion vs and Orthodox Religion what was tied to the State ... to be subservient to the State in certain state matters. This is what we call secular world matters that don’t have to do with your Spiritual Salvation.

I think if we were to follow Jesus’s example, we would go down the the LDS Church and attempt to clean their feet. If I lived in Salt Lake, I would be out there on the side walk.

Beck thinks he is an expert on everything.

- - - -
Yeah like his idiotic (and very Mormon) comments on the Dead Sea Scrolls being hid because of Constantine’s corruption of the Bible. OY VEY!

Ok, so when you were approached and the Christian immediately condemned you to hell, what was your reaction?

Everytime I have seen this done, they call the cops because they think you are nuts. They want you off their property and no closer than 1500 yards.

Did he really condemn you right away or did they ask you to come to a church picnic to get exposed to the community within the Church?

I didn’t know that Glen Beck declared himself your pastor, if you reject him so totally, why do you watch?

So are you saying Beck is a Christian? Because I’ve been Mormon and there is absolutely NO WAY to be a true Christian AND remain a Mormon. It isn’t possible and any Christian ex-mo will tell you the same thing.

Once you become a Christian, really believe that Christ died for your sins and salvation is by grace not works and the Bible is the word of God, you cannot sit through LDS meetings, you cannot sustain their ‘prophets’, you cannot accept the Book of Mormon. You leave.

Let’s talk about the fundamental error (or maybe just misdirection) of Christianity, it is usually practiced. You people ready to hear it?

- - - - -
BRING IT ON! I’ve probably already heard it from Mormons.

Show us the hate. Point it out. Speaking out against Mormonism isn’t hate, it is actually love and concern for souls.

Throw out the personal, and discuss doctrine in a “clean” manner. I will join in gladly.

What Mormon doctrine would you like to discuss?

You know, based on Catholicism, everything that is said outside the Church (including the Orthodox Traditions) is heresy.

You won’t find knowledgeable Catholics condemning her by name... you will hear them say to her, that there is only one God’s Church on Earth..etc

Ok, you have declared Glen Beck Guilty and sentenced him to hell..without even talking to him

- - - - -
Do you believe a False Christ will get you to heaven?

The biggest mistake most people make is thinking that Mormons mean the same things as Christians just because they use the same terms. They have a very different dictionary and a very different Christ.

The Mormon “Christ” was a mass murderer (3 Nephi - Book of Mormon) and a braggart about it. Was probably married and a polygamist, wasn’t always God but had to earn his Godhood, didn’t pay for sins on the Cross, just in the Garden by sweating blood and ends up being a loan shark (he covered our sins but we have to ‘pay’ him back with good works and being Mormon which is really how we earn our Godhood just like he did). I can go on...but that isn’t the Christ of the Bible at all.

It is fine, it is only hate when you condemn a person to a determined future

That is a curse and a sin in of itself.

You can condemn Mormonism all day long non-stop ... I was only pointing out that you catch more flies with Honey than Vinegar.

But there is nothing wrong with it at all. Have at it.

Our goal is to bring people back to the fold, save them, not push them away.

They Holy Spirit will enter their hearts and humble it to the teachings of the Church. God has the power, you have to trust in him.

You guys don’t get it, you don’t have to know any of this stuff.

You just have to have faith in God and Believe.

My point was the condemning of a person which isn’t very Christian.

Again, you can condemn Mormonism till the cows come home.

Christianity is not a hurdle to be jumped over — it is an understanding of our role in the world, so that we can be harmonious with God, happy and helpful.

- - - - - -
Interestingly enough a very MORMON answer. And you just failed Christian theology 101.
