At that point the discussion pertaining to Christianity is pretty much over isn’t it? Any person who makes that statement has clearly identified themselves as out side. Is that the understanding of all Catholics?

You are absolutely right. There is nothing left to say to someone who denigrates Scripture like that. If someone doesn’t recognize the absolute authority of Scripture, they cannot be reasoned with.
