God has ALREADY forgiven me, don’t you get that? It’s just a spiritual thank you for forgiving me, that was a really stoopid thing I just did..It was forgiven the moment I accepted Christ’s finished work on my behalf. All of it, yesterday, today, tomorrow. Not that I won’t do boneheaded things or that I fear if I do a boneheaded thing and don’t ask God to forgive me, then He won’t. It’s not a “WILL YOU FORGIVE ME?” It’s a “THANK YOU FOR FORGIVING ME”. It’s an acknowledgement that I know I’m not perfect and I know WHY He says I am.
