Scripture does not specifically confirm, or preclude the Assumption of Mary, but the Apostolic Tradition has long held it to be a fact. Scriptural evidence of the Assumption of both Elijah and Enoch affirms this doctrine.

Do you have any sources for that Apostolic Tradition story of Mary's assumption? Did anyone reliable write about such an event? Did anyone actually see it happen? Did John, to whom Jesus entrusted the care of his mother, write anything about it? I assume she probably was not still alive when he was exiled on the island of Patmos (90AD) and wrote the book of Revelation. I have no problem about it if people want to believe that she was assumed either alive or dead, but I am curious about when such a dogma was adopted into the Catholic faith and why it was.
