We make a very serious mistake if we rely on media like the New York Times, Newsweek, CNN, or MSNBC for reliable news about religion. These news media simply don’t provide trustworthy information about religious faith—and sometimes they can’t provide it, either because of limited resources or because of their own editorial prejudices. These are secular operations focused on making a profit. They have very little sympathy for the Catholic faith, and quite a lot of aggressive skepticism toward any religious community that claims to preach and teach God’s truth.

The Catholic Church is furious with Bourgeois and is close to kicking him out.

He was in fact excommunicated in 2008.

KSN News reached out to a number of people in the local Catholic community to try and get some type of comment about this story. But numerous requests were denied. The issue of women becoming priests we were told is just too controversial.

It is very hard to believe that they couldn't find anyone in the Wichita diocese to defend Christian teaching.

The ordination of women is why my mother quit the Episcopal Church in 1976.

I don't understand why radicals insist on trying to reshape the Catholic Church in the image of other denominations.

Perhaps this priest has forgotten or never learned):

“God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as is in all the churches of the saints.” (1 Corinthians 14:33)

May we remember: “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” (1 Samuel 15:23a)

As our Lord Jesus said: “Man was made for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath was made for man.” And man was not made for woman, but woman was made for man.”

I can remember some of my adolescent to late teenage confessions....would have been a good deal tougher to make them to a lady...

Not impossible, mind you....just tougher!

The introduction of female priests would have major implications on theology, I think, due to the priest's unique capacity in offering holy mass as an 'alter Christi' or 'personna Christi.' The moment a women says the words of institution on the altar the very nature of Christ's sacrifice is subject to revision, not immediately, but over time. I envision a conflation of male and female virtues (or chrism?) in the person of Christ Himself.

In short, weirdness would ensue.

It would be refreshing to have one of these guys say something like “While not having priestesses is racist and discriminatory, I believe abortion is murder,”gay marriage” isn’t possible, and the discipline of celibacy is very valuable.”
