As our Deacon once said, “We do not know that there ISN’T a St. Madison (when questioned about the name for a newly baptized baby). St. Madison may just have not been born yet.”

Still, I like the custom of naming a child after a Saint. All my children and grandchildren carry the names of Saints.

My children all have saints’ names, too. Several have more than one! A family in our congregation named their baby girl Azul, which means “blue,” but Father Paul doesn’t speak Spanish and just said, “Oh, that’s pretty!” Diacono Rafael was shaking his head sadly ... but at least it was “Azul Maria.”

Someday, if you live long enough, you’ll meet your new pastor, Father Dakota, and have to choke back hysterical laughter ;-).
