It was built back in the 30s, when Catholics were rare birds in the South.
Today it is much too small. Capacity 700. Our parish church holds 850, and some of the suburban parishes are even larger.
It's a neat building, a merger of Romanesque and Deco/Moderne. I hope it's preserved, whatever they decide to do.
