“A standing-room-only crowd, larger than Easter Sundays, packed the pews....”

the “more than Easter” ignores that the entire number is 600...in the entire city of Boston (and I suspect a lot of non Catholic activists were there).
On the other hand, in the old days, many catholic churches held more than that at each of their four or five services.
Boston’s Church was dead under Cardinal Law even before the pedophilia problem was exposed. The churches were half empty in the 1980’s, and the only “enemy” was, of course, the quiet pious folks. That is why so many Catholic fled to evangelical churches so they could find God.
Don’t know if this bishop is any better...from what I read on his website, he is busy fighting the PC who took over the church, but is afraid to be too harsh on them. Think of it as enemy territory for him.
