“For the gay and lesbian clergy of this Diocese who are living in domestic partnerships or civil unions, I hereby grant a grace period of nine months from the effective date of the New York State Law permitting same-gender marriages for those relationships to be regularized either by the exchange of vows in marriage or the living apart of said couples, said Provenzano in the letter.”
If they believe that “gay marriage” is possible, why didn’t they require their clergy in “relationships” to marry before the state recognized “gay marriage”? Suddenly the state says it’s OK so know they require it?! Man, I don’t know about anyone else, but I wouldn’t belong to a faith that takes its moral direction only when the state says it’s OK to do so...
Freegards, thanks for all the pings
I predict the next step for the Episcopal Church will be to welcome pedophiles. It only makes sense. These people cannot “help” how they think and feel about the world around them, it’s simply “genetic” ... and they need to be loved too. Nothing like belonging to an “anything you want to do goes” church ... boy am I glad I left that stinking mess behind. I’m ashamed now I was ever a part of it.
I believe Baal worshippers "aborted" their firstborn children after birth, and allowed polygamy, but there is no proof that they allowed same sex marriage. Marriage in ancient Canaan (and later in the Phonecian colonies) was to beget children.
However, it hasn't stopped the PC from making up facts. link
Note he quotes the bible and the later Jewish writings (written centuries or even a millenium later) but doesn't have any proof that there actually was a lot of same sex marriage around, (i.e. where a society actually recognizes and honors the relationship) as opposed to homosexual practices per se. (as in the classical times of Greece, when homosexual relationships were frowned upon but known to occur, and even promoted by some of the intelligencia as "normal")
Indeed, a lot of the Biblical criticism of the Canaanites is thought by archeologists to be untrue or exaggerated (e.g. child sacrifice to Baal):
they similarly dismiss child sacrifice in Carthage (something that the Romans often pointed out as a reason to destroy the city).
bbbut it is nice that the lesbian priestesses will get married (at least for a couple of years before the divorce and remarriage) rather than “living in sin”, right?
