The effort that was wasted was my vain attempt to control my life by “reading the tea leaves” if you will. It was a waste in that I did not take advantage of the time I was given to do the things I was given to do. Rather I spent the time looking to gain some control over things that rightfully belonged to God.

OK, gotcha. Yes. On the other hand, I think God used my interest in prophesy to teach me other things. Of course, He always has a way to get us to do what He wants us to do. :)

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Curious thing about The Book of Revelation.
It's the only book in the Bible that says " Blessed is he that readeth , and they that hear the words of this prophecy. It's not tea leaves , and studying the WORD is not divination.

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
