When the topic of long hair comes up on Christian women’s discussion lists/boards, the competitiveness and vanity is enough to put a person off whatever version of Christianity those folks profess. One poor dear actually worried that God didn’t love her black adopted daughters, because their hair simply didn’t grow long.
Several years ago, I visited a United Pentecostal Church with a coworker. The church had many rules about women’s appearance, such as no pants, no makeup, no jewelry, no hair braiding, hats during worship, and long hair (usually in a tight bun).
Since then, I’ve wondered happens if a husband wants his United Pentecostal wife to liven up her appearence a bit, and if she puts her church teachings above his wishes.
