Answering todays questions is Tricia Erickson, author of "Can Mitt Romney Serve Two Masters?..."
How do you know what Romney believes?
Mitt held offices of Missionary, Missionary Zone Leader, assistant to Mission President , Bishop and Stake President
You cannot attain the calling to serve as Mormon Bishop or Stake President unless you are a thoroughly entrenched and obedient Mormon
I was a Mormon Bishops daughter.
Are you anti-Mormon?
My heart aches for the Mormon People. These people do the best they can to live up to false doctrine of attaining godship
They are trying, through good works, to be perfect which no man can achieve. That is why Christ came and died on the cross so that we could be forgiven of our sins because it is impossible to be human and sinless.
The Mormon plan for exaltation to godship places demands on members that are unachievable in order to merit the "highest degree of glory"
Women in Utah are among the highest factions of consumers of anti-depressants Theres a reason for this. They are working themselves to death
It is a loving thing to lead people out of deception and into the truth...
Are you of the opinion that a Mormon should never be elected President?
Yes Indoctrinated temple Mormons (as Romney is) have experienced years of brainwashing and indoctrination and have made covenants and oaths they plainly cannot disobey.
Romney and all temple Mormons have sworn to obey The Law of Consecration in the secret temple ceremonies
would you trust the judgment of a man who truly believes he will become a literal God and...be given his own kingdom/planet to rule over and populate with spirit babies to be placed in to the highest office in the land?...
we need a stable and discerning president
If a candidate believes in proven lies and practices cult-like doctrine, how can the American people hold confidence in him/her as the leader of the free world?

From the interview: Mitt held offices of Missionary, Missionary Zone Leader, assistant to Mission President , Bishop and Stake President You cannot attain the calling to serve as Mormon Bishop or Stake President unless you are a thoroughly entrenched and obedient Mormon
There goes one of the arguments some use -- that they think Mitt is a "nominal" Mormon. Nope, he wasn't; and he ain't.

This latter argument is one I've persistantly made on FR since '07. I've repeatedly said that if a man is vulnerable to deception in supposedly the most important area of his life, what does that say about his gullibility overall?
If he labels 80% of his base as "apostates" -- like the entrenched Mormon view of Christians -- how can we trust him on world policy issues re: being able to accurately define other world religions?
The interview goes into detail what the oath of allegiance Romney & other temple Mormons have given. It's available from other sources that people can quote as well.

Bingo. This author knows what she's talking about.
But it is not Romney’s Mormonism that I won’t vote for him. It is RomneyCare.
Maybe that's why so many Mormons are so keen on electing Romney.
It would be as close to that goal as any of 'em ever got.
Thank you
Give me a break.
The premise of the article is that Mitt is handicapped because of his religion.
There continue to be numerous articles published to raise awareness of his religion, promote it and most of all give him cover as to why he cannot succeed merely because of his beliefs.
His core tenets and the lack of are why I oppose him.
This guy will say anything, stick his finger in the air or poll for his position in front of an audience.
But at no time, ever, has Mitt said what he is about.
Sort of.
On the one hand and for years he championed the right to kill an unborn baby and did so openly while paying homage to and singing praises to his mother, who fought for the Womans Right.
Even as governor he signed legislation that is consistent with his beliefs for thirty years.
Now all of the sudden hes found Jesus and Just give life a chance?
Give me a break.
Universal Health Coverage? Oh, its a states rights issue but the Fed cant do it. Okay, I agree but he wont admit it was flawed legislation which he didnt bother read and digest, the same way Pelosi et al didnt?
He cant admit where it went wrong but always and laughingly says Obama should have called him for advice?
What, pray tell would Mitt have told him and what advice would he give Obama on how to properly shape and administrate that monstrosity?
Crickets.
Gee he...so smart.
Exactly what can Mutt disagree with Obama on? His policies?
LOL
He was solicitous in his gratuitous I agree with the good Senator....(Obama) during the 2008 campaign.
Where has he been for two years? I aint heard a peep from this tard and now he what to say?
Oh! Thats right. He wants to qualify Obamas screw up, on the economy by saying He didnt create the recession, but he made it worse and longer..
So Mitt is asked about his comment later and offers this explanation Instead, he denied making such an assertion. I didnt say that things are worse, he insisted. What I said was that the economy hasnt turned around.
Really? Can I quote you on that and why would you contradict what we can plainly playback on youtube?
In 2007, Romney said he favored banning assault weapons. In 2008, he opposed the idea.
In 2008 he feigned some righteous indignation and accused Juan McCain of proposing legislation that offered amnesty to illegal immigrants. Later, Juan challenged Romney on this. Yet Mutt had previously endorsed Juans position.
Mutt was also against the George Bush tax cuts and only 6 or 7 years later said Yep, by gumby, them theres a good idea (paraphrase and an conveniently opportunistic reversal of his original asinine position)
The premise of the article is making excuses for his religious beliefs and distract everyone from talking his core positions, of which he has none, save for his contrived, synthetic opportunistic polling and pitching for the moment his thespian but contrived position, which he will absolutely reverse himself on when that moment comes.
I could go on but do we need to discuss his religion as a qualifier or disqualifier any more?
As usual, kudos to Colofornian but my focus, in regards to Mutt, is my gig with no disrespect.
Thanks for the post.
I can’t stand Romney, or Huntsman for that matter, but I would rather have a Mormon president than an athiest or muslim or black liberation faux Christian (or whatever Zero is). While I agree with the premise that Mitt needs to be stopped, I disagree with the substance of this interview.
Neither should an indoctrinated liberal.
Actually, Mormons might not be the Christians they think they are but remember it was major news that a Catholic named JFK was elected President. He did better than most Presidents.
That may be correct, since a majority of USians prefer indoctrinated Moslems...
