To: JPII Be Not Afraid

Whenever he was on t.v. I would always tell my son, “one day, he will be a saint!”.

I look back on that and just cringe. For my part, it was pride, pure and simple. That someone like me, a speck of dust, could ever predict WHO God would make a saint. I’ve learned my lesson here, painfully so.

Funny. The first and last time I ever saw him (a video was loaned to me on the highest recommendation) I cringed at his swaggering showmanship and the fawning women in his audience. I said to myself, "one day he's gonna come down."
