Actually the planet earth existed on day one. Gen 1:2 speaks of the Spirit of the Lord hovering over the surface of the deep. So the planet earth was there, but it was covered entirely in water. The earth mentioned in Day 3 is actually land or dry ground.

Perhaps; but was was the deep? I thought it was perhaps deep space or something; not necessarily water over earth.

I don’t claim to know exactly what the deep is, so I’m not arguing with you. I’m just saying “the deep” doesn’t certainly mean there was a planet Earth at the time.
