Funny you would mention Gays and the Ark in the same sentence. The rainbow in the sky was God’s promise to mankind that he would not destroy the earth again. It’s always been interesting to me that a group that is destroying itself has chosen a symbol of God’s Grace as their banner.
“The rainbow in the sky was Gods promise to mankind that he would not destroy the earth again”
Just wanted to point out that the rainbow was God’s promise that He would not destroy the earth by FLOOD again...Genesis 9:11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
The earth will be destroyed but not by flood...see 2 Peter 3:1-11.
2 Peter 3:10-11 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness
When I teach from this portion of Scripture I like to point out that the “big bang” really hasn’t happened yet...but it is coming.
I don’t remember the exact source, but it says that when the rainbow appears it’s as a reminder of the covenant, but not on a good way. It means that people has done a quite bad thing, and instead of a new flood it’s just the rainbow. And, well, they’ve done hugely bad things. I don’t know how that plays out at the end, but of course the covenant doesn’t mean they’re clear.
