Sandy? Who the heck is Sandy? Or Williard???

Are you on drugs???

Going to read to my kids now.

And, its the truth. I was a hardcore atheist. My parents still are. My mother is a liberal Democrat that worked on Obama’s campaign and lives in L.A. I argue politics with her all the time. She thinks anyone who believes in God is an “idiot.” That’s you AND me.

My dad is a Doctor. Went to church until he was 16 and never went again. He was a Protestant. He doesn’t believe in the existence of God.

My best friend is a Mormon and one of two kids in our grade in high school that was one. I have known him since 4th grade. I used to really get after him for believing in God. It wasn’t just a Mormon thing. I argued with anyone and everyone who believed in God at my high school...I apologized to the ones that came to our 20 year reunion.

I owe apologies to a few others. I persecuted Christians verbally.

I have come to know my Savior Jesus Christ and the power of the atonement in my life. I have been forgiven of my sins and continually try to live the best life I can. Trying to abide by the “greatest commandment” and love my neighbors and fellow man. I try to do good deeds and raise a good law abiding family. So far, so good.

Best to you and I mean that sincerely.

Ben

Put on the decoder ring ben. I've pointed out from mormon doctrine that 'continually try(ing) to live the best life' is not adequate for the grace of Jesus. That statement also falls far below your earlier bleat about how well you live the commandments. Which one is it - and what does mormon doctrine say? You know the answer.

How are you forgiven of your sin ben? Mormon doctrine tells me you can't be forgiven in your sins (ALMA 11:37). Mormon doctrine tells me that Jesus' grace for salvation only comes after YOU have removed ALL sin from your life (MORONI 10:32, DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS 58:43).

I can't make these things up Ben. Does you statement above match what your church doctrine teaches from above.

How can the God of Mormonism promise you forgiveness when he holds you accountable for every sin you repeatedly commit?

If your sin debt couldn't be repaid to heavenly father, what make you think you have the ability pay the debt to Jesus? And remember what Isaiah said about how heavenly father views such works.

No, I am not on drugs. Never have been. Sandy refers to a LDS person who used to frequent these threads, Willard refers to Romney.

And you can protest all you want, but I still don’t believe it. I have known too many atheists and too many LDS to fall for the ‘I used to be an atheist anti-mormon’. They just don’t exist unless they grew up in the LDS church, left and THEN became an atheist. Atheists don’t convert to Mormonism and certainly don’t waste their time fighting Mormons.

The LDS don’t have any idea what the ‘atonement’ really is. Good deeds will get you nowhere but Hell. They can’t save you, they can’t even contribute. And how can you be sure you have been forgiven (past tense) of all your sins. How do you know you have repented? Even your own prophet Spencer Kimball says that is impossible. Perhaps you need to read “The Miracle of Forgiveness” to see how impossible it really is.

I have been forgiven, not because of anything I do, but because of what CHRIST ALREADY DID.

Mormon teaching is that Christ is our mortgage broker and we have to work to pay him back. Do you want the sources for that? I can provide them. Basically LDS theology turns Christ into a LOAN SHARK and that isn’t the Christ of the Bible at all.

Do you knwo what your works are to God? FILTHY RAGS (lit. used menstrual clothes). So, try all you want, but it won’t get you anywhere. And, frankly, Gozilla is right, you have broken several commandments here tonight, and if you break one you have broken them all, so it looks like all your ‘good works’ just went out the window and thus you are headed straight for Hell. Funny how a gospel of works works that way.

My mother is a liberal Democrat that worked on Obama’s campaign and lives in L.A.

My dad is a Doctor.

And...we are supposed to be impressed by this?

I have come to know my Savior Jesus Christ and the power of the atonement in my life.

How mormony...ignore the Cross and the fact that Jesus died for our sins.

I have been forgiven of my sins and continually try to live the best life I can. Trying to abide by the “greatest commandment” and love my neighbors and fellow man. I try to do good deeds and raise a good law abiding family. So far, so good.

"Try to...try to...try to...I...I...I...again, how mormony...believing that God is keeping score of your works...I bet you believe that mumbo-jumbo in the temple actually binds God to man-made "covenants" also.

How exhausting to be a mormon...and how wonderful to be a Christian saved by Grace.

We feel sorry for you, Delph...er....ben....perhaps one of your "trys" should be actually reading and understanding the Bible.

BTW, if Jesus were to try to join the mormon church, how many of His actions would pass the temple recommend interview?...and would HE be required to clean the toilets in your buildings??
