And the problem with your interpretation is that when Jesus says, 'you are a rock', he did NOT say upon you, rock, I will build my church...Jesus says 'you'...Then he says, 'this'...You and this are not the same thing...

This still does not explain why Jesus(God)changes Simon’s name to rock! Why? Why? Why?
It makes no sense in the context of the passage other than that Jesus is saying something about Simon as rock.
IT MAKES NO SENSE OTHERWISE!
He does not say, This is rock and upon this rock I will build my church,
He says YOU ARE ROCK Why? Why? Why?
