ah... so is the earth to be purified of the system through fire? kind of makes sense. Growing up in the farm we would clear brush and other things, pile them up and burn them. This cleaned up the soil sterilizing it for new plants.
2Peter 3 states that the entire universe is to be destroyed.
The New Earth will be of a different character, and not a part of Time/Space which is to be destroyed.
We cannot know the nature of the New Earth because we know nothing of the relm in which it will exist; we have no basis of understanding.
