Though road rage is inexcusable, regardless of what the speed limit is, if you are driving slower than the rest of traffic...you are causing a hazardous situation. The chances of an accident occuring multiply, because of people making unnecessary lane changes. Slow drivers are almost as much of a hazard as speed demons (even if the slow driver is traveling at the maximum legal speed). I have found in driving in all 50 states that the vast majority of drivers drive 5-7 mph above the posted speed limit most of the time.
I guess I’m in the minority. I always assumed a sign stating the legal speed limit was in fact, the law and not just a suggestion. I had no idea I could violate it at my whim by 5-7 MPH.
Of course, when I did my original drivers education class, I was taught that on a freeway or highway system, the middle or inside lane is to be used by people who have no intention of getting off the freeway in the near future. That when you were approaching your desired exit, to signal, and begin moving over a lane at a time, towards whatever the ‘exit’ lane happens to be. That while I’m in my lane of extended driving (say, on the interstate), that I’m much safer staying in the lane that doesn’t have people getting off/on/off/on, as long as I am staying at the posted speed limit.
Now, if you feel the ‘need for speed’, and I’m following the law - it’s not MY problem.
