Federal Judge Prohibits Prayer at Texas Graduation Ceremony

A federal judge has ordered a Texas school district to prohibit public prayer at a high school graduation ceremony.

Chief U.S. District Judge Fred Biery’s order against the Medina Valley Independent School District also forbids students from using specific religious words including “prayer” and “amen.”

The ruling was in response to a lawsuit filed by Christa and Danny Schultz. Their son is among those scheduled to participate in Saturday’s graduation ceremony. The judge declared that the Schultz family and their son would “suffer irreparable harm” if anyone prayed at the ceremony.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said the school district is in the process of appealing the ruling, and his office has agreed to file a brief in their support.

“Part of this goes to the very heart of the unraveling of moral values in this country,” Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott told Fox News Radio, saying the judge wanted to turn school administrators into “speech police.”

Sounds like both family and the judge are already suffering from irreparable psychological disorders.

Atheism is a belief. Therefore, the Judge is ruling in favor of a “belief”.
This kid looks really upset. I’m sure it’s his parents doing. /s

The Schultz's would do well to remember what happened to Madeleine Murray O’Hair who started all this wickedness.

She ended up murdered for her beliefs by people she hired (she hired atheist criminals) and the child that she focused the lawsuit on hated her forever. And became a preacher, to boot.

She was also called “the most hated woman in America” She was mean and rotten and even the Soviets wouldn't let her in. She hung out with Larry Flynn. She was a creepy, hating, litigious unpleasant sex obsessed woman, and her whole family died at the hands of vicious men. Except for the one who became a Christian.

But I guess people like the Schutzes don't care about any of this . It's all about dragging American down into the gutter with them.

Most certainly irreparable harm will be caused to the advocates of prayer when their God given right to freedom of religious expression is curtailed. The list of those individuals and institutions who are harmed by this ruling goes on ad infinitum but does not include the good Unitarian Universalist litigants who are its intended beneficiaries.

If the appeal fails, and prayer is prohibited, and I were the valedictorian, I would make my speech a very pointed commentary about how in the name of the intolerant atheist communists, the very nature of America is being destroyed and freedom of speech is being decimated.

And how close intolerant atheism is to facism, and groupthink.

All never saying the name of anything specifically prohibited. I’ll bet by the end of the speech that rotten family would be burning and more furious than any prayer would ever make them.

Excellent idea, my dear Watson.

Can't have any of that free speech nonsense around these parts.

So what’s the Clintonista judge going to do if the students stand up and pray?

Send in U.S. marshals? What if the entire assembly hall rises up and prevents their arresting the prayer leader? Perpetrate a mini-Waco?

If they do, it’ll go viral and Obama will have to defend the actions of his Justice Department.

In other words, “Go ahead, make my day!”

Perhaps if a local Church stood outside praying the Rosary it might help to heal this terrible pain the atheists feel
.

If Westboro can take their signs Christians could pray the Rosary.

That’s most likely what will happen. Prayers will be said in spite of this and that is exactly what needs to happen. It is Texas afterall.

Just have to ask, is there a relationship there with Wasserman schultz?
