Mary was a virgin who was to conceive by being overshadowed by the Holy Spirit and give birth to the Son of God. Few in Christian realms would deny Mary was a virgin and remained a virgin through pregnancy and the birth of Christ. This was the ultimate fulfillment of a prophecy from Isaiah:
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14, emphasis added)
However, Marys virginity after the birth of Christ can become a heated debate in some circles. Though some may think this is a Roman Catholic versus Protestant view, it is not. Many Protestants, including people like Martin Luther and John Calvin, have held to Mary remaining a virgin for the duration of her life. Lets look at the issues in a little more detail.

That's because he wasn't. Jesus' father was God the Father, so He was only half-brother of James. That has nothing at all to do with whether or not Mary remained a virgin for the rest of her life.
>>if not, how do we know we have the correct Bible?<<
The holy spirit.
you can disagree all you want, but your time might be better spent reading John 17 and 1 Corinthians 1 and then praying on it. pride is an awful strong drug and the devil loves to push it.
I didn’t seperate Jesus from His body. Jesus is the one who said “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”. He didn’t say that the Church was the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but through Jesus.
I agree. You are a believer in Jesus yet you believe that you are the Truth.
no, just showing if you don’t understand a fundamental doctrine like baptism, there isn’t much in the Scriptures you will understand. just making a point for all those following this thread.
Really? What about that little detail of Mary being bethothed to Joseph? (Matt. 1:18; Luke 1:27)
I agree we are in Christ. I do however disagree that we ARE Christ. This seems to me a little muddled for you.
i know the schools are bad, but did they stop teaching history altogether in your district?
Lol! Oh I see. Yes I understand the doctrine of Baptism. Do you understand the command to not pray to the dead? Do you understand the doctrine of ONE mediator between God and man, Christ Jesus? Do you understand the doctrine that ALL have sinned and need a Savior, including Mary?
Of course her "unstained" status must be maintained in the Catholic mind because to the Catholic, she isn't finished accomplishing her god-like works yet.
bingo! the Holy Spirit moving in the Body of Christ, the Church. there may be hope!!
BTW - the Holy Spirit is not the author of confusion. He doesn’t lead men to believe one thing for 1,500 years and then lead other men to teach something competely contrary the next 500 years.
Sorry, I meant to answer to Dr. Brian Kopp. I’m sorry, I need to slow down clicking the mouse!
Who said the Holy Spirit led men to believe it for 1500 years?
the early Church was referred to as “The Way” i wish you really understood what the Church is, you would join it!!
Bravo! You hit the nail right on the head!
>>what you dont understand is the Church is the Body of Christ on earth, you cant say Jesus is the Truth, without saying the Church is the Truth. you cant seperate them and this is what Protestants dont understand.<<
Here is where one of the disconnects take place. The “church” according to Catholicism is the Catholic church. The “church” according to the bible is the body of believers, wherever they are or gather. It is not about any hierarchy other than that with Christ as our head and all believers as “the body”.
When the two groups use the word “church” they mean two completely different things.
I haven't searched them all, but beneficial or useful seems best.
prof·it·a·ble
adjective
1. yielding profit; remunerative: a profitable deal.
2. beneficial or useful.
>>yes, but when these so called believers start finding doctrines in the Scriptures unknown to the Church for 1,500 years, you can be sure a spirit is leading them, its just not the Holy Spirit.<<
By “the Church”, you mean the catholic church. The catholic church is not the only one, nor was it the only one.
I am sorry I won’t be responding to your heresy anymore. You consider a reference to the church as the “Way” on the same par as Jesus in the Scripture saying that He is the “Way”. Jesus is the only Way to Heaven. I know how Catholic doctrine could have confused you on this point but it is still true. I don’t need to confess my sins to a priest. I don’t need to join an organizaton. I need to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and I do. That makes me a part of His Church.
