I started listening to Rush when he was local in Sacramento, in maybe 1988? He didn’t talk much about the homoagenda so I sent him a book, which of course he never mentioned. He remains quite silent about social issues. He used to at least mention the homo-agenda every now and then, usually in derision. I can’t get radio where I am now and of course I could listen on the internet but frankly I’m tired of ads, cigar and football discussions, and I can read faster than anyone can talk.

Anyone who ignores the social decay is part of the problem.

Answer Yes. Take a simple example -- how many of you liked the series "Friends"? I know I did and got addicted to it

In 1993 I KNEW that homosexuality was wrong and that I was pretty intolerant of them. Ditto for infidelity, divorce etc.

In 2004, I still knew that all of these were wrong, but said "oh, ok, people will be people"

And that's just one series that changed a lot of people's perceptions.

I'm sure "Will and Grace" did much more damage in making it "acceptable".

The only solution -- toss out the TV and manage what your kids watch. I've not had a telly for years now and stuck to reading or watching picked movie DVDs if bored and my "intolerance" is back ;-P

“He remains quite silent on social issues.”

You are quite right about Rush. I don’t know why he does not speak more frequently about the spiritual roots of civilization.

He will talk passionately for an hour against socialism and for freedom. But freedom to do what, exactly? Making money is important, but, as you say, we must not negect the moral and religious side. Has Rush ever mentioned attending church a day in his life? Has he ever said that having four marriages is not a good standard for our children to live by?

I still believe Rush is a great American. He belongs on his own Mt. “Rush”more for legendary broadcasters. But no talk show host is perfect.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I have mostly given up on Rush and the other so-called conservative talk show hosts, I find what he and the others do **not** say very irritating. For instance:

** That communism and Marxism motivates the Democratic Party and many of the leaders in our cultural institutions ( the media, arts, education,...etc.) has been discussed here on Free Republic since its inception. What do we get from Rush? Nothing! It's only in the past year or two that he has put his timid toe in the water and even begun to the use the words “communist” and “Marxist”. If I hear “radical leftist” one more time I think I will need a trip to the bathroom to hurl. Honestly...If we do not call the enemy and his philosophy what it is, how can we defeat it? ( I am exasperated.)

** Then there are the homosexual bullying issues. Prop 8 was barely covered by Rush. He completely ignored the Parker case in Massachusetts. And...He never discussed ( to my knowledge) the homosexual curriculum being imposed on the government school K-12 kids in California, Massachusetts and ( likely) elsewhere. What about the people who have lost their jobs because they once belonged to a particular fundamentalist Christian church, or the Catholic Church that has given up on adoptions due to bullying from the homosexuals? From Rush: Silence.

** Then for years upon years Rush completely ignored government K-12 school issues. In the past year or two he now takes occasional pot shots at the government schools but ( to my knowledge) has never addressed the fundamental problems that underlie all government K-12 schooling. All government K-12 schooling is socialist-funded, GODLESS, and managed by a voter mob collective. Is it any wonder that we have citizens in the voting booth who think godlessly, and are comfortable with socialism, collectivism, and voter mob control of their lives? Rush ( to my knowledge) has never plainly said, “Get your kids out. Work to shut these indoctrination camps down!”

*** Has Rush ever talked about the massacres of Christians going on around the world? Does he discuss the discrimination against them in our universities and businesses? Maybe he has.

** Finally....I am totally ticked about how he and the other talk show hosts ignored Obama’s eligibility. They are weenies and cowards.

EXACTLY! I can read faster than anyone can talk!

Also...When I do listen to talk radio it is a complete rehash of the top 5 economic issues that have been thoroughly discussed here on **FREE REPUBLIC!***!!! Yes! Free Republic is the “show prep” for nearly all of talk radio!

It is very rare to get an original analysis that hasn't already been completely analyzed by some very smart guys and gals on Free Republic! On those few days that Rush and the others come up something original ( or funny) that small segment will be published on Free Republic, often within minutes.

I haven’t listened to talk radio in years, actually. I gave up a long time ago and radio is hard to get where I live. News I can read on FR or other sites much faster without the other junk. And plus I get to have my say, and read others’ comments that give background and often “the rest of the story”.

Thanks for the heartfelt message. Our most gifted broadcaster says he has “talent on loan from God,” yet he never/rarely speaks about religious and spiritual issues.

As you point out, Rush didn’t talk about Prop 8 in California or the homosexual school agenda in Massachusetts. Or how the homosexual activists go after the Catholic adoption groups and any group that gets even a tiny bit of federal money or aid.

We must not forget. A conservative philosophy cannot live by bread (economics) alone.

During our Easter celebration, our priest in his homily said;

"When Jesus was tempted by the Devil, He never used His supernatural powers to rid himself of His advisory, He used the same weapon that is available to all of us, Scripture."

When I heard him say that I thought, wow, what a weight off. Trying to keep coming up with creative arguments against the left is tiring. Just referring to Scripture is enough. But like you say, we need to return to The Living Word. God bless.
