I am an SDA.
Our viewpoint is it is another title that Christ had. In Bible times, they took names and titles very seriously back.
And Christ had a pre-existing form, which means He also had a pre-existing name.
My arguement is that Michael is His name from eternity.
It’s not simply the name of an angel, for not even Lucifer could fit the profile of One who is like God and there is no more important messanger than God himself.
Except that Jesus isn't "like" God, he *is* God.
The name Michael can also be understood as a rhetorical question -- "Who is like God?"; the correct answer being, "Nobody". I believe this is the traditional Hebrew understanding of the name.
Jesus' "pre-existing name"? YVWH, of course.
