Every time Hawking's picture or an article comes up about him, my husband, taken from the preview for a movie we saw —can't remember the movie, Maybe the 40 year old virgin— quotes one of the guys, in the movie speaking of Hawking, (and hubby says it in computer voice):

‘People think I'm smart because I talk with a computer voice”.

‘Nuff said!

Any way it has probably been hell living in his condition for 50 years, there were stories of abuse by his family, it's probably hard for him to believe in much of anything.
