Russian drought (2/10/11) http://blogs.wsj.com/source/tag/russian-drought/

Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.

How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.

The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness. (Joel 1:15-20)

Do they have 13-year cicadas in Israel? I remember them from my childhood in pre-air-conditioning rural Missouri - windows open, you see - and they were so loud they’d vibrate your fillings out and drive everyone to sleep in the basement.

So, so what? Anyone? hmmmm..

Do you preach the gospel to anyone?

Do you lift the Kingdom of GOD up daily?

Do you feel blessed, when people persecute you, scoff at you, laugh at you?

We all have crosses to bear as witnesses of the *Risen Christ*

I believe that “end times hysteria” is a form of untreated mental illness.

I've often wondered if it's a case of people so afraid of their own mortality that they want everybody to go with them at death. Or so narcissistic that they can't accept the world going on after their death.

I think it is many people have a heartfelt sincere love for the LORD they look for his return.....

The human heart has a GOD given yearning for the LORD who know him, who belive in his return, who look forward to the earth’s transformation to the place GOD intended it to be.....

“Droughts come and go all the time, with no connection to “end times”. Really getting tired of this kind of lunacy. Oh no, a locust: END TIMES!!! Oh No, an earthquake: END TIMES!!! Oh no, someone passed gas: END TIMES!!!” ~ SolarStorm

Do you preach the gospel to anyone?

I speak about Christ in my life to many, and to others don't use words, because it wouldn't help.

Do you lift the Kingdom of GOD up daily?

I have no idea what you mean by that jargon.

Do you feel blessed, when people persecute you, scoff at you, laugh at you?

Yep. Doesn't mean I don't gripe about it, but I strive to have more the mind of Christ and less the mind of me.

We all have crosses to bear as witnesses of the *Risen Christ*

Very true. And it's not responsive at all to my question. What would I do differently if I thought it would be all over at "choose random date before the end of my natural lifespan, whatever that's going to be"?

Lamp Without Oil Is Dead....

Imagine the bridesmaids leaving their homes to go and await the arrival of the bridegroom. The following conversation takes place among them:

“Do you think we need to take some extra oil?”
“Why? The bridegroom will arrive at sunset anyway. That’s what the program says.”

“But what if he is delayed. Then we shall not have enough oil for the night?”

“C’mon! Why are you so negative? Why do you always complicate things? You want us to carry extra oil that we are not going to use? Why can’t you see the bright side of things?”

“Yes, but you never know! Me, I am taking extra oil, just in case...”

The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins..

In the Parable, the bridegroom was delayed and arrived at midnight. Meanwhile, the five bridesmaids who took no extra oil had discovered that they were running short of oil and gone to the village to get some more. Meanwhile the procession left for the bridegroom’s house.

By the time they got the oil and found their way to the bridegroom’s house, the party had started and they were locked out. They must have gotten the shock of their lives when they called out, “Lord, lord, open to us!” and heard the voice of the bridegroom, “I do not know you”

As we draw close to the end of the liturgical year, the church, through the gospel, invites us to contemplate the end – the end of our lives and the end of the world.

The way to prepare for the end is not to live in fear and anxiety, or to go after prophets and visionaries that claim to have access to God’s secret calendar of how and when the world will end.

Jesus told us that the Son of Man will come back on the Last Day to judge the living and the dead. How and when that will be, we do not know for sure.

How then is the wise Christian to prepare for the end-times? Today’s parable gives us the answer: The best way to prepare for the end is to follow the example of the wise virgins. The wise virgins took enough oil to keep their lamps burning. In the same way we should engage and persevere in good works to keep our faith alive. That is the best way to make ourselves ready and prepared for the Lord, no matter when the Lord chooses to come.

That’s not responsive, either. It is figurative. It was figurative, not literal, when it was taught by Jesus, as His disciples surely knew, or history would record Christians standing about the cities of the Roman Empire with lamps and flasks of oil, instead of doing something useful with themselves.

It’s beginning to appear that you don’t have an answer to an obvious question on this topic.

You said: Starvation is caused by bad government, not bad weather, and the Mississippi has been flooding every few years as long as it has existed.

It seems to me, you look for your own truth, rather than the LORD’s...

What would you do differently?

I don’t know, maybe not scoff at your brethren....

There's supposed to be something profound about your tie-in of cicadas to Israel?
