If Deborah were under the New Testament, that may have some bearing on the matter, but she wasn't and so it doesn't. Furthermore, Deborah was called to be a Judge because the men wouldn't do it. She was literally called to shame the men back into their God called duties. No such authority or exemption is given in the New Testament, so the question becomes are we living under the Law or the Gospel?

There are things that I may not like or even agree with in the Scriptures, but it's not my place to question God as to why He does something. It's my place to say "Speak Lord, for your servant hears" and then DO WHAT HE COMMANDS. He has commanded, through Paul, that women are not to be in authority over other believers. Why are so many willing to challenge God's Word on this? I swear I could almost hear "has God truly said" being whispered.
