Great sweeping generalization there. By the way, I would bet there is a difference between Catholics that actually practice their faith and the Kennedyesque "Catholics in name only" types if the stats were so broken down.
That depends on how you define "practice your faith." I made an attempt in 2009 to break down the Catholic vote, by trying to match up the 2008 US Presidential election exit polls with a taxonomy of Catholic voters. My conclusion? The numbers suggest (and only suggest) that the only Catholics who might consistently vote "conservative" are those who attend Mass more than once a week. Protestast, evangelical, and Mormon numbers start breaking for conservatives much earlier re church attendance.
