It seems to me that if a group of people are truly exceptional their deeds speak for themselves. The need to ridicule straight men reflects an insecurity on the part of gay and female writers and producers. Sometimes the existence of strong capable men disturbs the delusions under which they spend their lives. Effeminate snarky male figures are often portrayed favorably as opposed to your typical male because they are more like their creators. The interesting thing is that despite decades of such portrayals most men are still men for they learn from their fathers, uncles and brothers how to behave and not from the media. The simple truth is that the media is not as all powerful as they believe.
