This is from 1940 and Baptism is Baptism if it is done correctly.
I’ve found the good Fathers who composed this series to be excellent in general. I can’t think though they saw the deep South “Bible Belt” manifestations even there in the 1940’s.
I’ve heard a story or two that Catholic boys would go out and cut down ropes the night before a tent revival was to go on and I say GOOD FOR THEM. In Canada far less than a hundred years ago Catholics wouldn’t walk on a sidewalk in front of a Protestant church and I say that’s just fine.
How in the world would they address the Catholic response to the Cathars?
There might be pentecostals more “orthodox”, but the ALL chase unclean spirits exercising false “gifts” IN THE NAME OF THE GOOD CHRIST! How can anything be worse? Sacrilege is technically worse but these VISIBLE MANIFESTATIONS are wooing broken youth and weak souls. It is clear as day to me that it is they whom Our Savior referred to here:
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name?
Matthew 7:23
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.
I’ve found two anti-pentecostal sites...usual cautions as they are stricter fundamentalists:
deceptioninthechurch.com & theforbiddenknowledge.com
digest these sites and come back and tell me we are to be as the good Fathers say.
I’ve been told “tolerance” is rooted in the word “patience”. I’ve always thought it was that we are ideally to patiently endure these heretics, but even the modern Catholic State, as Spain under France being a good recent example, disallowed a non-Catholic secular office election and disallows public ANY display of religion by non-Catholics...to the point their edifices can be marked only by a small sign. We don’t ban but tolerate their presence, patiently.
