Well IF Wednesday is considered misleading then so is the usage of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
First, each 'new' day began at sunset. And Christ Himself said Matthew 12:39 But He answered and said unto them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
Course it does not hurt to have read and know what led up to just who it was Christ was instructing from the prior verses, but I am not going to take the time to type it out.
HERE is the 'clue' verse 40 For as Jonas was *three days* and *three nights* in the whale's belly; so (note) shall the Son of man be *three days* and *three nights* in the heart of the earth......
Now that is not a couple of hours on Friday day light, then Friday night, Saturday day, and Saturday night, and up and out of the tomb before sunrise on Sunday morning. There IS NO WAY this adds up to THREE days and THREE nights, unless liberal new budget math is the manner of counting.
Christ quoted Jonah 1:17 just in case there needed to be a base upon which time was to be calculated.... verse 17 says "Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish *three* days and *three* nights. That would be a total of 72 hours.
Matthew 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake:
for the angel of the LORD descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it........verse 6 He is NOT here, for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
NOTE The Marys got there as it began to dawn, the sun was not even up yet, so there is NO counting of any part of the first day as part of the three days and three nights.
So for Christ's own WORDS to be FACT one must start at that point and count back 72 hours to get the absolute required time HE said HE would be in the tomb. That would make the beginning in the tomb near sunset on the 4th day of the week. OR on what we commonly call Wednesday evening before sunset.
I will go with the WORDS Christ Himself spoke and the resurrection did not happen on the 4th day as by Scripture when the women came to the tomb HE was NOT there.
Notice again that this verse is unique in that it indicates a resurrection on the fourth day, since it says that it will be three full days and nights before the resurrection. Everywhere else in the New Testament the resurrection is described as occurring on the third day.
