Just the first stanza.
The second denies Jesus' admonition to call no one holy except the Father;
The eternal God can have no mother;
Mary confessed to the angel that she needed a savior, thus a flesh and blood sinner (as we all), and is now (without a speciel decree .. by men .. ), dead and cannot pray for anyone.
Do you deny that Jesus is God in the flesh? That He is coeternal with the Father? That through Him all things were made and for us men and our salvation He came down from heaven?
Do you believe that Jesus Christ is God?
And who was Jesus' mother?
Simple logic, and the Church from a very early date, both East and West accepted the title, "Mother of God" for Mary. And most of the early Protestant Reformers, including John Calvin, accepted the appropriateness of the title.
I am not a Roman Catholic, but I genuinely do not understand why so many well-meaning Christians feel the need to run down the Virgin Mary. Because of her "Yes" to God, Jesus Christ was born into the world. What a wonderful gift we received through Mary! And what an example for us all to follow.
Have trouble with hyperbole much? As Protestants are fond of reminding us, Paul calls his readers "saints". What does "saint" mean? "Holy one".
The eternal God can have no mother
So is Jesus not really God, or was he not really born in a human nature? Pick your heresy.
Mary confessed to the angel that she needed a savior, thus a flesh and blood sinner
Nothing like that is in Scripture. Mary said, under inspiration, that God was her Savior, not that she needed a Savior (implying that she did not then have one). Big, big difference.
