NOPE.
You’ve been misinformed.
Even valid such are only for healing.
Nothing to do with Salvation.
Ew!
I've been through a lifetime of Catholic school and Church and never heard that one time. Though I've been to other Christian Churches who spent 1/3rd of the service bashing Catholics. It was quite eye opening when first encountered. Before that I had considered all Christian Churches to be my brothers, as I've never heard a Priest bad mouth another Christian Church. I've decided it's a phenomena akin to little dog syndrome.
He may or may not (I expect 'may') but I was clearly instructed in RCIA class that there definitely were two individual people whom God created as human and that Eve's disobedience led to Adam's which led to their expulsion from the Garden.
Something I thought of a few years ago, since we are made in God's image and likeness, we were always designed to do work, but creatively, not for a living.
Mostly sorry.
I could have resisted . . . am in a curious mood.
For some perverse reason, when I read your post, I thought of the Old Testament custom when swearing an oath, a Testament and from there . . . .
Papists have called Proddys horrific names every week of FR’s existence from the beginning.
They have only themselves to thank for responses in kind.
It seems to be the only language they understand or that gets their attention.
Yet this was removed earlier:
“Warning. The thread you are on is posted by, or pinged to, a group of people who hate Catholics. They are bigots who are not honest. They use Free Republic for three reason. The first is to bait Catholics and the Orthodox. The second is to silence Catholics and the Orthodox. The third reason is to recruit new people into their hatred and bigotry. We recommend you do not comment on their threads.
bigot:
A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own or intolerant of people of political views, different ethnicity, race, class, religion, or gender.
Evil:
-morally reprehensible : sinful, wicked (an evil impulse) -arising from actual or imputed bad character or conduct (a person of evil reputation)
Lie:
-a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.
-something intended or serving to convey a false impression; imposture.
-an inaccurate or false statement.
Yet it did not single out anyone by name. I guess hypocrites run rampant along with bigots. I should add that definition. After all, the only thing I did was give a general warning and some definitions. So here is one more definition meant for general use:
Hypocrite:
-a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion
- a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings
Just know it is a fixed game here when you post.
Is the concept of an amorpous fuzzy membership’d group
as
DIFFERENT
from a designated individual
all that difficult for Parochailly trained minds to get???
“as I’ve never heard a Priest bad mouth another Christian Church. I’ve decided it’s a phenomena akin to little dog syndrome.”
Why should they? The RCC has already ritually cursed them and consigned them to hell via anathema. Of the 100 curses, here are a choice few...
If anyone says that after the reception of the grace of justification the guilt is so remitted and the debt of eternal punishment so blotted out to every repentant sinner, that no debt of temporal punishment remains to be discharged either in this world or in purgatory before the gates of heaven can be opened, let him be anathema.
Regarding the Sacrifice of the Mass:
Session 22 Canon 1
If anyone says that in the Mass a true and real sacrifice is not offered to God ; or that to be offered is nothing else than that Christ is given us toeat, let him be anathema.
Session 22 Canon 3
If anyone says that the sacrifice of the Mass is one only of praise and thanksgiving; or that it is a mere commemoration of the sacrifice consummated on the cross but not a propitiatory one; or that it profits him only who receives, and ought not to be offered for the living and the dead, for sins, punishments, satisfactions, and other necessities, let him be anathema.
Regarding the Sacrament of the Eucharist:
Session 13 Canon 1
If anyone denies that in the sacrament of the most Holy Eucharist are contained truly, really and substantially the body and blood together with the soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, and consequently the whole Christ, but says that He is in it only as in a sign, or figure or force, let him be anathema.
Regarding the Roman Catholic Sacraments:
Session 7 Canon 4
If anyone says that the Sacraments of the New Law are not necessary for Salvation but are superfluous, and that without them or without the desire of them men obtain from God through Faith alone the grace of justification, though all are not necessary for each one ,let him be anathema.
I see, so it's exactly like the Catholic teaching that you can ask Mary and Saints to pray for you. God is, after all, the God of the living not the God of the dead, so those who have shed this mortal coil are alive elsewhere and you can pretend to be pentacoastal and ask them to pray for you. Or, can you only ask them for healing?
Thanks - Steve and I are going there right after Easter. We’ll be there for Divine Mercy Sunday.
No.
I’ve turned the other cheek tons on FR.
However, sometimes, given that’s the only language understood . . . or that gets the attention of the other side in terms of clue-ing them in on curtailing some of THEIR hideousness . . .
it’s ocassionally fitting to speak the RC’s language of choice.
Not exactly like at all.
Proddys request prayer of those ungraduated fellow believers.
If the writer of this post enjoys traveling in search for the Real Truth, however, she might like to visit Lourdes (a Church-approved apparition) and also the in-corrupt body of St. Bernadette as well.I think he better advised by the Apostle Peter.
2 Pet 1:17For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased," 18we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. 19And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,
What's really amazing is how many wrongs they stockpile in advance just in case they can't keep up their two wrongs make a right ratio sometime in the future.
Lie: -a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood. -something intended or serving to convey a false impression; imposture. -an inaccurate or false statement.Accusations of lying? Care to site any examples on this thread or is this something you just post in all debates with protestants.
Bull, my priests are consistent......so is my Bible study nun in class.......in fact, I haven’t heard them mention Mary in ages. Respect for Mary does not have to involve anything more than the same respect you have for your own mother. It is NOT required. Go talk to a Catholic priest and ask him. I speak the truth. I was baptized Catholic and “converted” as an adult as I was raised without attending any church. I asked plenty of questions. Believe me, the priest would hear the same question over and over....as I was processing it all.....and was not “getting it”.
OTOH, I have recited the Rosary....as a mother concerned about her children’s path in life....I have found it very useful and it produces amazing results.
I am an adult convert, so to speak, and I know more about my faith than many cradle Catholics. I speak truth.
