The events of the BOM are huge. Huge civilizations, wars, animals, crops, armor, events. But there is no evidence of them ever having existed
Sure there is. Not conclusive as of yet but yes there is. You should look such things on the links I provided for information.
"Sure there is. Not conclusive..." - PD
LOL! What an April Fool's joke!
What do you think the word EVIDENCE means?
It sure doesn't mean "we think", "we believe", "it might be", "it could be", etc.
EVIDENCE is PROOF, factual DATA. - - "Data presented to a court or jury in proof of the facts in issue and which may include the testimony of witnesses, records, documents, or objects."
NOT skittle ejecting unicorns prancing over rainbows.
Thanks PD. I've done quite a bit of research; I'm kind of a nut for researching various religions and I spent a lot of time on Joseph Smith. And a lot of time on the pre-Columbian people of Central and South America.
My strong conclusion was:
1) It is very clear that Smith's intended location for the BOM was North America, specifically close to where he lived.
2) The complete lack of evidence conclusively shows it did not happen there.
3) As a result, eventually all of North America was ruled out, and the attempt for proof moved ever Southward toward Central/South America; however, these cultures bear no resemblance to those described in the BOM.
In addition, you have the evidential problem of only one person's testimony (as opposed to the NT), and that testimony is greatly questioned by many things, not the least of which is "reformed Egyptian writing" and the Book of Abraham.
Thanks very much for your courteous reply.
