I'll bet that you cannot name five truly conservative Roman Catholics who are becoming Protestants.

That's six in about 10 seconds.

Now that Catholics are established by several recent polls to be at the highest percentage of the American population they have ever been in the country's history and ever increasing

Mark, easily proven errors make for lousy evidence.

CATHOLIC TRADITION FADING IN U.S.

"Evangelical Christianity has become the largest religious tradition in this country, supplanting Roman Catholicism, which is slowly bleeding members, according to a survey released yesterday by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.

Evangelical Protestants outnumber Catholics by 26.3 percent (59 million) to 24 percent (54 million) of the population, according to the U.S. Religious Landscape Survey, a massive 45-question poll conducted last summer of more than 35,000 American adults...

The U.S. is over 50% Protestant and 24% Roman Catholic. Without the huge influx of immigrants from Mexico and South/Central America, Rome's membership numbers would be falling even more precipitously.

Lousy try. Let's have some public figures whose life can be examined - those who are becoming Protestants, as I posted - and we can see their spiritual life as Catholics and make the determination in the light of day whether these are truly conservative Catholics.

That is, unless you have nobody that can be evaluated. Which is most likely the case.

Excellent. You bring up the Washington Post's reference to the flawed Pew reference to a study group that nobody has ever heard of, with no methodology or scientific basis listed. That truly is lousy evidence.

Now, we have the fully documented CUNY scientifically documented poll designed to eliminate any claims of roll-padding, because the people were asked blind what religious affiliation they were with no leading or biasing in any way.

Read 'em and weep, good Doctor. Not only is the phone booth cult losing, but Protestants (at least those that still believe in God) are also losing at an accelerating rate.

Question: will the last OPC church close its doors in your lifetime? I realize that 83 doesn't leave much time, but you seem quite spry and will probably be around for a while. Well, what do you think?

Catholics pump their numbers by counting every unknowing baptized baby as a "member"...

The bottom line is when one is saved they leave Rome.. as Rome's doctrines are contrary to the gospel, the number left behind.......... will be :)

Really? Exactly how long does it take to become Protestants. Because most of those people you named have been bitterly anti-Catholic since I first started coming around FR almost a decade ago. And not one of them seems to know a single thing about Catholicism, but instead characterize it like they read about it in some comic book.’

Oh well, off to find where Eck said she wanted the Catholic church to be destroyed, but man... talk about prolific... I certainly can’t chime in on all the hundreds of comments... this one about “Catholic Tradition Fading in US” just got my attention, because, well, Catholics now make up almost 50% of all church members in the United States. That’s up from about 22% in 1960. You can check out the membership statistics from National Council of Churches’ data. And please also note that the Catholic Church has been growing (according to NCC) as the illegal immigrant population has been cavitating (according to the Center for Immigration Studies, an organization OPPOSED to illegal immigration, so their facts are against their interest).

Heh heh. Anyone who cites a Pew survey to assert a case is “easily proven” is either a liberal talking head or just plain desperate. They can’t poll within 20% of an election outcome if their lives depended on it, and they’re financed by the pantheon of radical leftists.
