What does Eckleburg translate to?

"Gatsby is a kind of T. J. Eckleburg; he has created a god like image of himself, but the image is doomed- the dream will turn to dust- and like Eckleburg, Gatsby also has occasion to brood over the ashes of the past, over the solemn dumping ground of worn out hopes"

Quite fitting for the old girl.

I fail to see the rationale behind the thinking that disobeying God is going to protect one from spiritual attack.

Sinning always leaves on open to spiritual attack.

But pray away to idols if it makes you feel better.

“I fail to see the rationale behind the thinking that disobeying God is going to protect one from spiritual attack.”

Same with me.

“Sinning always leaves on open to spiritual attack.”

Yes, it does.

“But pray away to idols if it makes you feel better.”

What idol am I praying to?

What state are you in? Depending upon your answer, I might guess that everyone you could talk to, Catholic or otherwise, votes dem.

Assuming, of course, that your post is even true.

lol. From an "opinion" by a Roman Catholic at Catholicism.org.

Every reputable outlet cites the correct statistics that 54% or Roman Catholics voted for Obama while 45% of Protestants voted for Obama.

The only thing recalcitrant RC apologists have on their side is their proclivity toward fantasy.

Your history is missing some important facts. It was not until the 1200’s under Pope Innocent II that the church rules changed to only prohibit married priests.

1) “For the first 1200 years of the Church’s existence, priests, bishops and 39 popes were married.” - Source: Kelly, J. N. D. Oxford Dictionary of Popes. New York, Oxford Press. 1986.

2) “Celibacy is not essential to the Priesthood.” - quote Pope John Paul II - Source: Time Magazine. July 1993.

3) “You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.” St. Peter, the pope who was closest to Jesus, was married.

I think bishops that did this were either pederasts themselves or earned for themselves reservations in the deepest regions of hell or both. If they are extant, and it can be proved, they need to be put in prison.

Ah, yes, the eternal papist caveat -- "if they are extant..."

Will a Cardinal suffice?

Not necessary, the RF guideline is when one poster in a sidebar has been warned, all posters must consider themselves warned.

She added that the substance of the claim that DiSipio witnessed something is still unclear. "I just don't know if it's true," Hughes said. "I really don't know if it's true."

Yet she spouts a charge in open court? This is a judge? Time for her to step aside.
