It Is So Good To Finally Be Home

It had been a long and challenging trip. Working for the family business meant a lot of sacrifices, but it was well worth it. After such a long journey, it was so good to finally be home.

His wife greeted as he entered. They held each other with a closeness that took forty-three years to fully ripen. She had been the delight of his life. The early days were tough, but as the years passed their love reached heights that he never knew were humanly possible. He often wished she were at his side during his recent travels. There were many sights he knew she would have enjoyed seeing.

As he held his bride he thought to himself, “It’s so good to finally be home”.

Peering over his wife’s shoulder he saw his son walking toward him. The sight of that boy always made his daddy smile. Seeing him walking now was exhilarating. While his son’s heart was more tender and kind than any father could ever dream, his health had always been strained. His son came to his mother and father and joined their sweet embrace. In that precious moment he forgot about the medical bills and the tears that he had been shed for his son.

He held them closely and whispered softly to his family, “It’s so good to finally be home”.

After what seemed to be an eternity his wife gently interrupted, “There is someone here to see you.” She held his hand and stepped to his side so he could see who was walking toward them. He had been adopted at the age of eight, and his adopted Brother was truly his best friend on earth and had been a tremendous source of strength to him. He often turned to Him for guidance during the early years of his marriage when he and his wife had struggled learning to love one another. When his son’s health was at its lowest point, it was He who kept him from losing hope.

“Welcome home! Enter into the joy of your Lord.”

As stepped through those splendid gates toward his Savior accompanied by his family he wept. Through the tears he softly repeated, “It’s so good to finally be home!”

Ephesians 1:5-6 (New King James Version) 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Galatians 4:4-7 (New King James Version) 4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Romans 8:15-17 (New King James Version) 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Hebrews 11:13-14 (New King James Version) 13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland.

Okay. I’m an idiot. I’ll stop pressing F5 now trying to replicate your problem. Sorry. Glad you enjoyed it even if I can’t see humor.
