BARCELONA, March 16, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A Barcelona area priest has resigned his post as vice-president of the board of a local Catholic hospital after the institution refused to stop distributing the abortion-inducing drug RU-486 to patients, according to the Spanish newspaper ABC.
In addition, in apparent protest against the inaction of the Diocese of Terrassa, Fr. Ignasi Fuster has also resigned from his post as pastor of Sant Celoni parish, which carries the same name as the hospital.
As LifeSiteNews reported in September of last year, the Sant Celoni (Saint Celedonius) hospital in Barcelona, has been accused of providing the abortion drug RU-486 to patients, along with the Sant Joan de Déu (Saint John of God) de Esplugues de Llobregat Hospital.
In addition, ABC reported last year that two other Barcelona area Catholic hospitals under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Barcelona, the Sant Pau (Saint Paul) Hospital and the Hospital of Granollers, are performing surgical abortions.
However, the Archdiocese of Barcelona, under Cardinal Lluís Martínez Sistach, has denied the allegations and has not acted against the institutions. The same cardinal has permitted a priest who admitted to paying for abortions, Fr. Manuel Pousa, to continue serving (http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/catholic-priest-who-finances-abortions-remains-unpunished-by-bishop) as the pastor of his parish for three years, and has only now started excommunication proceedings against the priest following a new book detailing his already-admitted behavior.
Although the Diocese of Terrassa has issued a statement condemning the Sant Celoni Hosptial’s practice of distributing RU-486, it has not undertaken any disciplinary measures against the institution or the Church’s representatives on the board of directors, ABC reports. Three other representatives of the Church on the board of directors have rejected the protest of Fr. Fuster and intend to remain, according to the same newspaper.

It is quite possible that LifeSiteNews.com article on another Spanish priest who finances abortion might have helped this Spanish priest decide to resign and make a statement with his resignation.
Well done, good and faithful servant!
On the other hand, the hospital needs to be tossed out of the Catholic Church, and funding cut off.
It’s Catholic in name only . . . disgusting . . . misleading . . . whoever’s directing that hospital should be publicly excommunicated.
God bless that priest.
I think his wife [freeper handle JustAmy] liked some Viking Kittens I posted to her.
Maybe you can search for clever kitten pictures to post to JustAmy.
Here is a thread you can post them to (which JustAmy started):
