Wellllllllllll, finished it.

BTW, DR E, I don’t think you’ll have any explanation that remotely fits for the below.

Want to post a brief excerpt or two . . . FANTASTIC BOOK.

With an incredible painting type picture of Jesus done by another child of similar age . . . quite an artistic prodigy . . . growing up in an atheist family . . . never having heard about Christ or God or any such—that God began giving similar trips to Heaven . . .

Their website is here:

http://www.heavenisforreal.net/#page_21

Maybe I can put that bit in here . . .

p142
. . . our hosts had friends who had been at the church the evening of our talk and had heard the descriptioins of heaven Colton had shared . . . forwarded us an email about a report CNN had run . . . about a young Lithuanian American girl named Akiane Kramarik, who lived in Idaho.

. . . Akiane (pronounced AH-KEE-AHNA) had begun having “visions” of heaven at the age of four . . . Her descriptions of heaven sounded remarkably like Colton’s, . . .

. . . A self-taught artist who says her inspiration comes ‘from above.’ . . . and a profile view of a man who was clearly meant to be Christ . . .

. . .

The narrator went on to say that Akiane’s mother was an atheist and that the concept of God was never discussed in their home. The family did not watch television, and Akiane didn’t attend any kind of preschool. So as the little girl began to tell her stories of heaven, then depict them first in drawings, then paintings, her mother knew she couldn’t have heard these things from another person. Slowly, her mom began to accept that Akiane’s visions were real and that therefore, God must be real.

. . .

. . .

At that point, a close-up portrait of the face of Christ filled the screen. It was the same likeness I”d seen before, but this time with Jeus looking directly “into the camera,” so to speak.

‘He’s pure,’ Akiane was saying. ‘He’s very masculilne, really strong and big. And his eyes are just beautiful.’

. . .

. . .

‘and his eyes, ‘ Colton had said. ‘Oh, Dad, his eyes are so pretty!’

. . .

Still, of the literally dozens of portraits of Jesus we’d seen since 2003, Colton had still never seen one he thought was right.’

Well, I thought, may as well see what he thinks of Akiane’s attempt.

. . .

Colton bounded down the stairs and popped into the office.’ Yeah, Dad?’

‘Take a look at this,’ I said, nodding toward the computer monitor: ‘What’s wrong with this one?’

He turned to the screen and for a long moment said nothing.

‘Colton?’

But he just stood there, studying. I couldn’t read his expression.

‘What’s wrong with this one, Colton?’ I said again.

Utter silence.

I nudged him in the arm. ‘Colton?’

My seven-year-old turned to look at me and said, ‘Dad, that one’s right.’

Knowing how many [dozens] of pictures Colton had rejected, Sonja and I finally felt that in Akiane’s portrait, we’d seen the face of Jesus. Or at least a startling likeness.”

This is completely against Christian belief, these extra revelations. how do we know this is not the work of the devil?

No.

It’s not inconsistent with Scripture at all.

St Paul speaks of such visitations . . . evidently as a rare yet reasonably common thing for the church age.

The devil does not lift up and glorify Christ

nor is he consistent with Scripture if he says anything about Christ, at all.

He’s the father of lies.

I found the Prince of Peace picture from the “Age 8” category. There isn’t a hotlink to it, just the link you gave and then click on the thumbprint.

It is my conviction . . . that . . .

folks who’s perceptions and constructions . . . biases . . .

are as rigid, narrow and stubbornly preconceived

as the pharisees’ were

are highly unlikely to see all God has for them, if they see God

at all.

I Cor 12-14

. . . the script for a NORMATIVE church service . . . . for the church age . . .

provides for plenty of extra revelations and their vetting.

Organizational and personal biases have decided God didn’t know what He was talking about in those chapters.

God is not impressed with such idiocies of ignoring HIS WORD and HIS PLAN.

Perhaps some Charismatic Presbyterians know better.

paladin: I can say that I/we view it as nothing more than speaking to the Third Person of the Trinity and therefore right and good. For example, just as the Father wills something to be done and the Son makes it possible, the Spirit guides us in doing it. It would be misguided, therefore, to ask the Spirit what the Father’s will is or to thank the Spirit for the Son’s redemption of us, but not misguided at all to acknowledge the Spirit’s work in our lives to guide us in the Father’s will or remind us of our redemption by the Son.

Yes, the Spirit works in our lives. But do you pray to the Holy Spirit?

There is no warrant in the scriptures for prayers to anyone other than God the Father. "

Well, they also consider Pentecostals and Methodists to be damnable heretics in any case.

Well the Viet cong leader took his gun to shoot the host as he was aiming he had complete deathly heart attack. He fell over dead to the floor. Some story.

huh? hmm.... well, the Holy Spirit does have the power to do this and more. I need to re-read Quix's posts in this light.

Why don’t you try that in the original Hebrew? It’s pretty clear that YHWH is different than Elohim. YHWH is Elohim, but only one Elohim is YHWH.

Jesus’s command in Mark is no different than the word in Deut. You really should look into the doctrine of the Trinity if you’re going to come at me like that.

If by “do you pray to the Holy Spirit” you mean do I talk to Him, asking Him to be patient with me as I try to hear His guidance and thanking Him for reminding me of Christ’s atonement, then yes, I’d say you’d be correct in saying that I pray to the Holy Spirit.

Does that somehow bother you? Does it bother you that I would be grateful for and to the third Person of the Trinity? Afterall, we’re told that we’re sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption, shouldn’t I be thankful to He which is sealing me?

As for worrying about what a bunch of Calvinists think of me, why should I? If I’m saved, then by their own beliefs they have no authority to challenge it or call me damned. If I’m not, according to them, there’s nothing I can do anyway so what is their concern to me? Sounds to me like sour grapes on their part, honestly.

So do I! And the Holy Spirit, God is very patient to hear us out!

Does that somehow bother you? -- Not at all, in fact I'm pleased to hear from a fellow believer

Does it bother you that I would be grateful for and to the third Person of the Trinity? Not at all -- I'm not a Presbyterian like Dr. Eckleburg or Gamecock -- what I posted above is that Presbyterians believe it is heresy to pray to anyone other than God the Father. Thank the Holy Spirit I'm not a Presbyterian!

shouldn’t I be thankful to He which is sealing me? -- yes, we should all be thankful to God.

If I’m not, according to them, there’s nothing I can do anyway so what is their concern to me? -- good point, for some reason I had thought you were a PCA/OPC follower, but I was wrong, I apologize for that.

I’ve got to ask, do you realize that we Protestants don’t have a single, unified doctrine handed down by man like you Roman Catholics do?

Furthermore, do you even realize that there are those who are not Roman Catholic or Orthodox, but neither are we Protestant either?

Freewill Baptists, for one, aren’t descended from Protestant lines, we’re closer to Pentacostals and other Armenian lines. Southern Baptists, on the other hand, are closer to the mainstream Protestant lines due to their Calvinistic bent. That being said, neither one of them would accept female pastors, marry homosexuals or endorse abortion.

If you’re going to speak to us about the “sins” of our denominations, at least have the intellectual honesty to get our beliefs right.

Ahh, I understand the confusion now. I most closely identify with the Freewill Baptists. We’re Armenian in belief, for the most part, but I have a different take on predestination and foreknowledge than most of my denomination does. It’s actually a sort of blend between Armenian and Calvinism that allows for freewill, yet still understands that God, being Omnipotent, already knows my actions before I take them and has seen and recorded it before hand.
